10 Most Anticipated Video Games of 2012!

2011 was an awesome season to be a gamer. Probably providing one of the best games collection that game console systems technology is offering with titles such as Batman: Arkham City, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Gears of War 3, Portal 2, Killzone 3, and many more... 2012 has higher goals to live up to in order to please the strenuous market of thirsty gamer. While there are still game titles to be declared for this year, it seems to be yet another awesome season for players. 10. SSX: Deadly Descents
SSX: Deadly Descents, EA's next chapter in the SSX franchise has been introduced during the 2010 Spike VGA. It promises to deliver enough chills and adrenaline rush for all snowboarding games fans specifically and sports games fans in general. Its imminent release is scheduled for March 2, 2012.




9. Starhawk
Starhawk is the third person shooter successor of Warhawk which has been introduced by Sony on the PS3 back in 2007. Starhawk was first announced in E3 2011 and promises an innovative gameplay style. Incognito Entertainment SCE Santa Monica Studio in collaboration with LightBox Interactive have been jointly working on this title for quite a while now and is scheduled to be released exclusively for the Playstation 3 on May 8, 2012.




8. Halo 4
I must confess, I am not the greatest fan of the Halo title and in my own experience there is an array of better FPS series out there, but with 2012 seems having a scarce for such type of games in terms of powerful first-person shooter collection as opposed to the last season, I am very excited and eagerly waiting for the release of Halo 4. 343 Industries is working very hard to match and even exceed Bungie's previous series, to even considerably expand the scale of this game and offer much more depth in terms of gaming experience for the massive fan base of this extremely proven popular game franchise.




7. DUST 514
Developed by CCP Games and firstly announced in 2009 at the Game Developers Conference in Germany, DUST 514 is the long awaited massively multiplayer online first person shooter game (MMOFPS) set to take place within the Eve Universe (science fiction space setting). DUST 514 will be released exclusively for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita around mid to end 2012.




6. Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider the famous platform action-adventure video game has come a long way since it has first been launched on the Sega Saturn back in 1996. Announced during Microsoft’s E3 2011 Press Conference; the ninth instalment of the Tomb Raider series which is developed by Crystal Dynamics, will have no correlation to its predecessor titles and will be considered more like a reboot to the franchise which will promise more engaging gameplay and storyline. Tomb Raider is scheduled for a release in the 3rd quarter of 2012.




5. Mass Effect 3
Mass Effect, Bioware's action role playing game jewel is undoubtedly one of the most creative and exciting console games franchises since inception of Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Mass Effect 3 which will be powered by the Unreal Engine 3, will mark the final chapter in the very successful and heavily popular trilogy franchise. Bioware the Canadian gaming studio company is promising a more sophisticated combat system in ME3 compared to its predecessors and an improved artificial intelligence engine with a more in depth multiplayer co-op mode. Mass Effect 3 is scheduled to be released in March, 2012.




4. Uncharted: Golden Abyss
The fourth entry in the Uncharted franchise is set to be released on Sony's next generation portable gaming console: Playstation Vita by mid to end this actual month of February, 2012. Developed by SCE Bend Studio, Uncharted: Golden Abyss features a full featured-length campaign and promises to offer an outstanding 3d engine graphics and a better shooting mechanics. A supreme title in its genre indeed!




3. Grand Theft Auto V
The 5th installment of the massively entertaining and popular action-adventure open world video game Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is set to be released sometime in 2012. More to be known about the exact release date in E3 2012. The UK-based Rockstar North, developers of this fantastic game, promises to deliver breathtaking surrealistic 3d graphics, an improved gameplay system and even a bigger world set in the fictional Los Santos in the state of San Andreas based on modern-day Los Angeles and Southern California. GTA 5 is predicted to realize one of the highest sales figures in 2012 and this could be easily backed up by the fact that Google Trends has revealed that GTA V was the most searched 2012 video game launch on Google.




2. The Last of Us
Unveiled during the 2011 Spike VGA, The last of Us is the upcoming third-person survival horror action-adventure developed by the studio that brought Uncharted to life: Naughty Dog. The game will begin in post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and gradually move it's way out of the city to other unannounced locations. The concept of this game is based on the nature documentary showcased by BBC, Planet Earth which demonstrated the cordyceps fungus infected ants, resulting in taking over its mind and developing abnormal growths from its head; the idea that the yeast could infect humans turned to be the original idea for the game. The Last of Us is scheduled to be released in the third quarter of 2012 or the first quarter of 2013.




1. Resident Evil 6
Now this game franchise is one of my all time favorites and I just couldn't resist granting it the first position on my most anticipated video games for 2012 list! When I first heard that Capcom has announced their imminent release of RE6 in 2012, I rushed to put it on the top of my "video games to buy" list. I simply adored its 2 earlier predecessors RE4 and RE5. And now with Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy co-starring for the first time in the Resident Evil franchise, I am sure that Capcom will over deliver on this beast of a game and I assure everyone fans of the series or not that the upcoming Resident Evil 6 will continue to be one of the best survival horror games ever made! RE6 is scheduled to be released in November 20, 2012.
